- This is an empty housing that is the gear housing used on all OMC Stringer Sterndrive upper units from 1975-1985 (low profile) I.E. 120hp,140hp,165hp, 170hp 175,190,225,235 & 245 260 305 350 2.5L 3.0L 3.8L V6 4.3L 5.0L 5.7L V8 400 800 etc....

Actual Stamped / Cast part number on this is 981391-D2 but a lot of times these will be stamped 981391-D3 or 712851
- 981381-D3 is also a common part number found on these housings
- This would be the same assembly as these Part numbers (the part didn't change, but the superseded part numbers did over the years)

- ^This is the would be the actual part number indicated in the parts list of this item based on the year it was produced
- This could be used to replace 980112 / 0980112 (1973-1974) but you would need a handful of extra parts relating to the steering worm retainer.
