MerCruiser 56211A1 Bearing Carrier Pre-Alpha Early 1970s Lower Unit Gearcase
Item Details
- The Bearings & Seals Should probably be replaced in this but this is up to your discretion.
- Used in MerCruiser 120hp / 140hp / 165hp / "888 & 898" lower units 1970-1977 (Mostly just the early 1970's models & Gearcases that used a pre-load pin If your gearcase does NOT have a pre-load pin, then this is the incorrect bearing carrier)
- However, You just need to inspect the casting number to see if the one you are replacing is the right one
- MerCruiser Part Number 56211A1 (From Parts Diagram)
-
This one has casting number 56211 (Essentially eqvivalent to 73020 & 73020C, but different than 73020-C1)
- This is the earliest iteration of bearing carriers found in the Pre-Alpha drives 1970 & beyond... 1969 & before gearcases used a different prop shaft & bearing carrier)
- The other type of bearing carrier MerCruiser made had casting number 73020-C1 & 818763A10 which is NOT THE SAME as this one and was found in the 1984-1990 models****
